Hi All,

I'm new to the Aquaponics practice, and thanks to this great forum, Robyn T, Tim C and other websites i have a system started. It came alive on Saturday the 11 of January, and i'm taking lots of pictures (everyday actually) to show the progress.

It is a flood and drain system, i want to keep it as simple, efficient and effective as possible. I would like to get into growing sweet potato and other root vegetables, yet still keep a good mix. I see this as veggies first, the fish are a bonus :) The plan is to have four of these set up in total over the next 12 months. Your thoughts and wisdom would be most appreciated, so feel free to make comments.

JJ

Welcome Jeffery, was wondering who the mysterious lurker and receiver of all things good and Joel-like was that Tim C mention....

Can't get much simpler than that system Jeffrey.... thanks for the pics and keep them coming....

P.S .... Tim reckons you should go around and give the little green trailer a pat and say nice things to it :D

Welcome JJ - so you all got some stands welded I see. Any reason you went for RHS rather than the angle which seems to have become fairly standard for making these types of stands?

Nice system there, wouldn't mind having one like that sent to France.
Hope you lots of luck and fun and the fewest HSM possible

Yeah, its mostly Joel's gear, but i'm a metal work teacher and went with some off cuts at work. Also RHS is just stronger and i find it easier to work with. Once welded, you red oxide the welds and paint. real simple, took me like 3 hours total to construct. Guess im lucky, am able to use the workshop to create lots of better bits, like the outer standpipe instead of drilling holes, i machined slots all the way.

We all bought our Backyard Aquaponics gear at the same time... We all work together. There are also a few other people at work who need a bit of convincing to get started.

I had now idea their systems would be going together so fast.... Makes ME look bad!
