My name is Trey. I live in Atlanta and gained an interest in aquaponics working at several fish farms (strictly aquaculture, which always bothered me). We raised Russian Sturgeon at the farms, but I have moved down to goldfish in my own mini-system based on principles I learned in aquaculture combined with a lot of reading online. Here are some pics of what I have so far:

Newly added DWC, very basic. I had some stuff laying around and got bored...

Microgreens in a sort of NFT type set up; I am able to harvest from this and rotate pretty much
every two weeks. There is also some arugula that I have grown out in scoria to the right.

System Overview

This is a scoria bed I have to produce some more mature leafy greens. It flows constantly, but could benefit from additional aeration or from switching to an ebb and flow method (this is just easier and working good enough for me at the moment).

I have a stand alone biofilter on this system in a seven gallon trashcan using bioballs. I also have a dumbed down version of a radial flow settler in a seven gallon trashcan; it is not made very well but my system is not heavily stocked with fish, so it has provided enough mechanical filtration/solids removal to fit my needs. I am currently in a condo in Atlanta and limited by lack of space and an overbearing HOA prevent me from expanding my system the way I would like and experimenting with other methods. I am currently using lights to supplement the sun. I would like to have more GBs going into the garage, but have not been able to find a lighting system that I can currently afford that will provide enough light on its own (without the sun's help).
