Hi im mon from the Philippines
Here is my ibc set up
Fish tank 800 liters with approximately 180 red tilapia fingerlings.
Growbed 200 liters filled with volcanic rocks media.
Planted
Kangkong
Egg Plant
Sting beans
Arugula
Lettuce
Basil

This is my first time so i am trying out different plants. Also my system gets approximately 5 to 6 hrs of sunlight a day. Im in a tropical country so if its summertime its really hot here.

Its been just 3 days since i set up this system, but im planning to add a filter then a small nft system.

Will update in the coming weeks... Im so excited to see the plants and fish grow.

Your going to get very uneven growth. When ever plants only have light exposure from one side they will all stretch and lean toward the light source. I would try and find a location with at least 5 or more hours a day of direct sun. More is better.

Thanks for the input. I did notice the plants growing now are leaning towards one side. Future plans is adding 1 more gb and then a dwc at the end. Both will extend outside so more sun exposure.

I am worried, as i live in a tropical country, the summer heat here is very extreme and it does worry me that my plants would die due to over exposure to the sun, i know i can solve this by placing shades above my plants but im not sure if it would be enough. I guess il just have to wait when summer arrives next year.

Depends on the crops, most like full sun if they are indigenous to your area. If not, they may need a 30-50% shade during the hottest part of the year. But, all will do much better with full exposure, as opposed to only a few hours per day.

Thanks coachchris for the input. I will have my extension growbweds outside in the future and maybe just use this for herbs or something.

Heres an update. Did a few adjustments, re planted lettuce seeds but now a bit shallow as previously it did not germinate.
My string beans are doing well as well as the kangkong.
Arugula is now sprouting as well as the lettuce.
