Need some cuke experts. I have a wonderful cuke vine that I'd like to propagate. If I do a tip cutting, will the parent plant be OK? If it splits, can I prune it back to 1 main vine? It's growing on string like Ryans. It is an amazing tasting fruit! I want more, and seeds didn't do to well for me. Only 3 out of 10 germinated.

Traditionally, you would use the auxiliary shoots. I.e. when you pre it back to 1 main vine.

I would try to layer it to get another plant.If you have a shoot down near your grow bed just bury some of it and it will take foot and when the roots are big enough cut it free.If it is up too high you may be able to areal layer it by wrapping some potting mix around it and water it every day till it takes root.This works well with tomatoes but I don't know if it will work with a cuke.It may not be the same but a zucchini only has 32 fruits per plant and that's it but then they only have one stork.

It only has 1 stalk, and no auxiliary stems, so the tip cutting is my only choice right now. I just take the tom suckers and stick them straight into either the media or rafts.
