well as the heading suggests I am starting another system in high hopes of COMPLETING this one.
Started over the weekend with the old patio i picked up and cutting it up into frames.
I scored a temp car cover fairly cheap and will also use the barrels I scored from the GF's work place (still got spares Outback).
I have also scored a garden shed from some mates for a carton which should get delivered this weekend and that will be placed at one end to house the tank (still coming) to keep the sun off it.

I also have a little system going to keep an interest and it's doing well with some cherry toms and capsicum

looking good gnash.

what will you be stocking your system with?

will you have sides on the structure?

are the legs of the growbed frames buried into the ground?

nice work.

Think I will try jades or silvers (barra would be nice but I'll see)
Thinking of tin sides to 1/2 way as I have spare sheets already & the legs are not buried as yet, was thinking of just bracing them and painting the bottoms with old oil to keep away termites.

Nice to see you're making progress Gnash....

You get any bad storms and wind where you are.... just wondering if the patio cover would hold together and/or stay put... or if it'd end up halway across the Nullabor :D

Yeah we get a few beauties but the frame is tekked to the fence and when the tin is in place it should give the structure some strength.
The worst that can happen is the cover could rip or be torn off in which case i will cover with shade cloth.
It has been stormy for the last two days, a heap of rain and everything has remained intact.

i would imagine its a bit late for barra this year and don't believe jades are available in WA.

if i were you i would stock with silvers and then trout in winter. perhaps partisan the tank so theres a section for both silvers and trout. when temps get to high for the trout you could stock with barra. the idea behind using the silvers as well is that they should add stability to the system.

let me know if you need a hand chasing up some fish. i'm sure i could point you in the right direction. 8)

Can you get by with that much shading? Even in the tropics my toms don't do well unless in full sun.

Dt, will see how we go, summer is hot here (40-45DegC) and there will be alot of light and the plants will need shade.
The sun comes up at the far end of the shadehouse so If TOMs don't do well I will shift to that end.

Those blue barrels set up really well - can the ground under the support legs get wet, thinking of the legs sinking and upsetting the levels over a period of time

When do you start planning for AP system III

your right (of course) the legs will sink but when tin is in place should not be a problem as water should not get to ground (can see a I TOLD YOU SO coming) :evil5:
