Hoping to learn the basics with this system, before hooking into a couple buried IBC tanks to expand.

It functions !! Not sure if the parameters are within acceptable ranges .

Yeah, I've had issues with photos through tapatalk myself. I've found that I have to go to the actual website, copy the link, go back to tapatalk, then I am able to post up.

And welcome to the forum!

File comment: I just used a ratchet strap to trace a circle around the middle of the barrel. One appears shorter but they contain the same area.

System setup: 12 volt sump pump 1000gph into fish tank SLO out to grow beds, beds drain back to sump.
RULE #1 DO NOT PUT PUMP IN FISH TANK. always pump in not out. :fill:

When the pump is functioning I have about 2/3 sump full. If the primary pump fails, I have a battery backup pump system for when the sump fills over 2/3.
I know many say don't but I have a 4 gallon reserve in the bottom of each grow bed. It is a desert out there.
Any failures and my fish tank will not go below 50 gallons, my grow beds won't run dry and I have a backup pump.
My 12 volt air pump will also be run into the bottom of the grow beds as well as both tanks.

@Fireblade Pilot - Hi and welcome to the forum, i noticed you have either copper/bronze fittings. You might want to look into getting them change. Copper/bronze with constant contact with your water will cause your system to crash by killing your bacteria colonies due to their antimicrobial properties.

Regards

That is one that I have not heard, I can swap them for nylon or more plastic, but neither lasts very long in our Desert. Thank you for the heads-up.

Yes, about 102-104 and actually been mild this summer. My permanent system will also be at about 7000ft. Hoping for cooler nights for my tomatoes. They got hammered in the heat. I did take insurance cuttings so I have 6-8 new ones rooted in water, waiting for the system to cycle and the temps to drop a bit.
At that altitude we will also be dealing with snow and below freezing temps. Whole new bed of worms, there. I will move up to my buried IBC tanks, greenhouse, etc.
I'm confident All the info is here just need to find and apply to my circumstances.
Not looking to reinvent the wheel...maybe just add a little suspension?
Thanx for the welcome, glad to be here.

http://www.aquaponic.com.au/fact%20sheets.htm
^^VERY Informative Reading ^^
I feel part rocket scientist, I understood 99 % of what I read so far about breaking down solid waste. A solids mineralization tank to jump-start the process, will be in order for the larger system. For now just a basic screen filter for the larger waste.
:?: Can I feed that larger waste to worms I use for fish food or do I need one more degree of separation :?:
Also, a larger grid distribution system to utilize the entire bed and minimize :funny1: clogages ? lol (clogging)
Another tidbit: No factual evidence for worms in the grow beds, in relation to their own waste mineralization...and isn't that the whole point?
