Hello Everyone,

This is my Small Scale aquaponics system I recently built. It consist of 3 10G (38L) liter Totes for the GB, FT, and ST. Its a small system so I'm only using a 180 GPH pump. Its about 3.5 feet in width and 4 feet in height so it doesn't take up much room. I'm in the process of cycling the tanks and will be looking to get it planted soon. Please feel free to comment and let me know your toughts. I will be posting my progress on here as things move along.

Hi and good job with the concept..
I do wonder about two things..
Firstly, the amount of clay, that might be insufficient for the proposed fish..
And... the height of the clay, being low, will seriously reduce the light getting to the planned plants..

What is the tube going between the two sides of the tubs..
Is that an emergency overflow..?
..
.

I was trying to keep the system as in expensive as possible and the Hydroton was expecive so Im only using 25L but I do have 9.5in of depth in the media so honestly I think ill be ok, but we'll see...Ill test it out and if need more ill just pick up another small bag of hydroton at a later point. As far as the light, I think Ill be ok too. The bed get a ton of light from the window and Im indoors so if I need to supplement light Ill add some lighting.

Yea, the Plumbing in the front in an overflow back down to the ST in-case the bell fails.

Thanks for the feedback!

You might want to have your SLO empty into the expanded clay, instead of on top of it. The top 2-3 inches of media should be dry. If the top of the media is wet and exposed to the sun you will likely get algae.

Thanks for the Input! For some reason the way the flash hit the pebbles made them look soaked but for the most part the top layer is fairly dry. Fingers crossed I don't run into any Algae issues .
