Hi everyone,

I'm pulling out my first system and redesigning the area. I've had a couple of thoughts of how I could design it, but I'm keen for other ideas.

I have 1 IBC, which is already cut down to 70cm height plus cage.

I have 8 Blue Barrels, none of them cut as yet.

I have a space that is 3.2m x 3.4m

I have north facing sun 5-6 hours a day in winter.

I would prefer not to have a sump (have another system like that already)

I don't like digging (but may be convinced)

OK, I'm keen to hear your suggestions...

With 8 - 1/2 blue barrels you are going too need a sump or have too run CF, with a sump you have all options open.

Raise everything up so you can have a sump if you're like me and don't like digging, I think you'll find the "Most Creative Designs" will include a sump

I'd just say clad everything, and hide all the pipe work as much as possible.

It's my opinion, and others will disagree, but blue barrels are never going to be overly pretty. Build a few big beds from timber, and use the space as well as possible.

I also like having FT & ST buried, seems neater to me. Again, personal preference.

Sorry, but double posting.

My ideal grow bed would be very sexy. I've had plans for a now for an ultimate grow bed. With smooth curves, all made from stainless steel, polished to a mirror shine. No square bits, all the plumbing hidden, legs that curve nicely underneath, and hide all the plumbing, but makes it seem free floating.

Hmmm...

I should have a crack at welding up stainless steel one of these days.

Stainless steel is the easiest steel to weld. By far my favourite.

I've never welded it. I thought it was tricker than mild steel? I've been tempted to invest in one of those inverter TIG's, but have held back because I'm too cheap to move from the CO2.
