Hi All!!!!

I'm brand new to the forum but have been keen on setting up a Aquaponic System for a long time. I live in a flat so I've set up a small kitchen bench herb garden. I have 10 Neon Tetras at the moment and will be adding a few extra fish soon. We are growing basil and chives to begin with.

Let me know what you all think! I hope to have giant bushes of herbs in the next few weeks. But I'll have to up the bio-load i think. Do plants have a limit on the amount of nutrients they can take from the water? Or does extra nurtrients = more growth?

File comment: The grow bed flows directly into the tank to aerate the system. It's a 25L tank (6.7 Gallon) and constant flow.

After a few weeks it was obvious that the lant weren't growing and had a bit of dieback. We moved the system to a sunnier spot and didn't change anything else and the plants have gone berserk!

My basil crop made a great pesto (it received compliments unbidden!). I've now moved onto a few new trials. My thai chilli is growing like crazy and I hope to get some fruit in the next month. We transplanted a newly sprouted kumquat into the system and have had 0 growth for about 1 month. It has, in the last few days, started to grow. It didn't have any roots when we transplanted so we think thats what it has been spending its energy on. It was the smallest seedling we had and the others have grown far faster to date. We will see if the slow starter can catch up?
