Hey guys I have another question, how can you prevent anaerobic dead spaces in a constant flood or constant flow system? Also, is there a way to prevent the roots from becoming waterlogged?

Make sure your flow is strong enough to turn the water over once an hour at the least. I have read on these forums that this number can range from 1-10 hours but if you are concerned with anaerobic pockets I would over compensate on the flow. Also, don't put the inlet and outlet next to each other, put them on opposite sides of the GB. If you have airlines or airstones in your GBs to kick around the media or settled solids that would also help.

The roots won't become waterlogged as long as there is plenty of Oxygen in the water. Put compost worms in the grow beds to help digest the solids.

Just keep that flow rate up like Mr. Jackson said. Its always better to be capable of having a higher flow rate than you want in the event you expand/enlarge your system as well. Just ensure you have valves in the proper places in order to adjust flow through your tanks.

Distribute the GB inlets around the GB; if you've got only one inlet providing all the water it is possible that "streams" can form between the inlet and the drain, water outside the stream(s) may become very still and stagnate.
