Next step is the cycling and fish equipment...
I'm looking at:
100w heater from Aquaone..
136L/h air pump
2 Silver perch

All I need now is my freshwqater test kit and i'll start the cycling process :)

Haha yea it could be awkward if I fired up the BBQ with the tank still there.. Unless I wanted melted plastic and boiled fish for lunch. I'm looking for a rack to put it on for a more permanent setup

System update: 24hours after planting

The lettuce has already responded and straightened up!!

It's great to see a good response, and that tells me about about the local tap water pH

SYSTEM UPDATE:

Ok so today I timed the f&d cycle and the results are:
5mins18s to start water in standpipe
9s for siphon to start
43s to drain GB
Total cycle time: 6mins 10secs

What this means.. The system cycles 233 times a day or 3.9 times/hour

Does this sound like a good cycle/turnover rate?

System update:

Ok so more pics to come... Just need to get to a computer...

So it has been over a week now since planting, the lettuce has doubled in hight and the rest are slowly responding.

Still no fish as I'm waiting to get a freshwater test kit and the last pieces of equipment for the FT..

Maybe in a week or two..

I have been doing a bit of peeponics, but now I've noticed the tomato and basil are yellowing, which I'm thinking is the first signs of a nitrogen deficiency. So I went to buy some seasol, couldn't find it and decided on maxicrop. As I have approximately 150L of total water volume I put, 1/3 of a capful or 3ml I will see how the plants respond in a week. By then I will have my test kit and I can get a clearer picture of what's going on.
