Hi all,

Thought it was about time a placed my unit up here.

Well after moving out of a unit with a small yard I decided to upgrade from my IBC set up with lots of trial add ons to a slightly larger system.

There were a few restrictions i had. Well mainly one. It's company housing so I didn't want to be doing anything to the property where i would have to put it back the way it was when we move out. Which meant no digging in any sumps or FTs.

Originally I was looking at a couple of 1000L round FTs, than found a mate who was selling a more aesthetically pleasing 2-2.5kL currogated tank. This kept the boss happy :) It has been food grade lined before anyone asks.
It was also accompanied by a 350+L grow bed and 2x stands.

So at the moment I have the fish tank with 3 lonely barra left over from the old system (living like kings) oh and one little spangled perch from the local river which was from my original cycling of my old system. Suprised he has survived so i must be feeding the barrra well.

I have 2 more black grow beds, I think 350L, on some very large stands. This is the main thing that has annoyed me. the height of the system.

There is a 4th growbed but i need to put some more bracing through the middle of the stand.

I actually have a 5th shallow bed about ( 1.8 x 2.5m) that i am unsure at this stage how i will set it up. One of the churches in town are looking at doing a community system which I may make a very kind donation to. I have already donated the IBC. Is there anything that grows well in shallow under a patio?

I will just place a link to the facebook album for now until I get the photo's back on the computer.
Aquaponics 2.0

Some additions happenig at the moment are some frame wok over the top to tie up plants and a cover for the tank so that it is kid friendly and fish can not jump out.

Ignore the blue barrel at the back i was playing with sump ideas but it was from the old system and the holes aren't in the best location, big enough for flow and water spills out of the view hole asit can'tdrain quick enough.

It is a bit of a work in progress but really enjoying the build. It is still cycling but wow have the plants taken off already. I'll take some updated photo's of the plants tomorrow.

Welcome Klinger, your system looks really good. Its got a country feel to it which is very appealing. Look forward to watching your new system grow.

Looks great Klinger.

I am a big fan of the corrugated tin. It has a great feel about it that you dont get from other materials.

Thanks rsevs3 and Charlie.

It dose look nice under the patio and i enjoy hearing the syphons kick in and the fish smashing food while i sit under the patio having a cold beverage. Although with the change in weather might be headin for the spirits rather than beer.

Some pictures other than the Facebook link this time.

Cam back from being away to a tomato invasion. I'll get the pics off my phone later but these ones have 7 plants removed and the other 6 or so pruned right back

The images aren't viewable.... which often happens when people link to external sites...

In future it would be best if you could attach and upload images to any post...

How do you upload to the site? Look at the announcements section but it doesn't actually say how to upload and searching this forum isn't coming up with anything?

Looks ill be going fishing this weekend. Holding out to get barra again. And I am hanging out to feast on the last couple of barra from the last harvest left in the tank.
