Hello,
I am starting my first Aquaponics system. It is a 100 gallon FT stocked with 8 pounds of Koi. The GB will be 14 cubic feet ebb and flow. My question is...Is it better to have 1 large grow bed or several smaller grow beds each draining back into the FT or several small GB's cascading into each other? My goal is to have the most pristine water for my fish.

If your number 1 concern is pristine water for your fish. I would put in some solids filtration before the Media bed(s). Such as a RFF. Along with doubling the amount of proposed GBs if you have the room. So that you can get the type of filtration that you desire. Can we also have a pic or a sketch of the proposed system layout. So that we can better answer your question.

RFFs are good for getting out big solids.

For crystal clear water you need a fine filter to give the water a final polish.

Welcome KoiHippie! Keep in mind that your GB will hold approximately 40 gallons of water, depending on what you're using as a grow media (gravel, LECA, etc).

Where are you in NorCal?
