Hi All,

1st post .

I have recently moved onto a property very close to BYAP (what luck) and got the bug after viewing my neighbours AP set up ("Lee's System"). Thought how easy, until I found this forum and all the tips, tricks and local knowledge, head spinning a little now.

Very early stages yet and will be a work in progress for some time (not that they are ever finished!).

Some photo's of work so far.

Original Garden beds when we moved in, Bobtails ate most produce, bugs and birds got the rest.

I cleared out the old (including many Tee trees, which made digging the hole for the tank lots of fun) and built a shade/Chook house. The tank I have is 5000L and needed to be buried 1m (I lost about 3kg just doing that!!!).

Chooks not really AP, but hey, all part of the new lifestyle :D

Plenty of Q's to follow :notworthy:

Cheers
Steve

Made the GB Frames yesterday, 3 of.

Each holds 2x BYAP Beds for a 6 bed system. Still need to get them hot dipped and add some fittings/attachments for a Strawberry tube (for lack of the correct term?) and pipes etc. They must weigh 60-70kg each, but saved me some good $$.

Hi Steve,

I have just moved near by to the shop too (Jandakot), new patio goes up this week, then limestone pour, then I'll be setting up my own system thread. in the mean time I'm making grow bed stands from Jarrah sleepers.

You've done a great job with those stands best of luck with your new system.

Lloyd

Real estate prices are going up in Jandakot due to high demand. Real estate agents in the area have discovered that people are trying to live as close to BYAP as possible.

System ALL finished  . Well besides any cycling, plants or fish :dontknow: , this will need to wait for a few months (I'm away with work for a while now, so will await Barra time), then the fun begins.

Thanks guys for the comments, was fun building, shame I'm now forced to wait!!!!!!!!

I would appreciate thoughts on how many Barra's I should/could start with once cycled (tank 5000L, 6x GB's)? I was thinking 50-60 would be good, but more a guess than anything else. Would love 5 or 6 Marron also, but struggled to find any good reviews running these on this forum, as the tank is very deep (about 5 foot) would this seperate them enough from the Fingerlings to give it a go?

Had a chance to put in some veggies, couple of weeks slowly slowly then bam! Cycling finished about two weeks later, much easier than expected.
60 Barra went in yesterday, H2O temp around 22-25, so also rigged up a solar collector to bump it up a bit, but no sun today :(
Hoping my 1st fish attempt goes well, shy suckers.

Added a heated 3000L tank (solar and electric) and 2x more grow beds (8 total, will it ever end!) plus filter system to isolate the beds on the cold nights. Wanted to grow the Barra out and have Trout going also :)
