Hello everyone!

Well to say that I’m brand-new to aquaponics would be putting it lightly! I only learned about it around two weeks ago and I’m already having aquaponic dreams in my sleep. So I guess You could say that I’m a little excited about the possibilities that I see. I've been taking in all the info that I can but I really feel the need to start a system (inpatients seems to be common among those of us just starting).

Currently the first problem I see is that I live in a small 1-bedroom 600sqft apartment :-x concrete not wood :thumbright: To allow me to still live in my place, keep my girlfriend, and keep a social life I've decided that a 75L FT is as big as I’ll be able to go. I've designed a system that consists of 150L GB to 75L FT. I really like the idea of a heavily stocked tank and dew to size I think I’m going to be stuck with goldfish (all good until I get my acreage then it’ll all get stupid big  ). My question to all of you aquaponicers (I think that’s a word and if it isn't it should be) is what flaws do you see with my system? The tank is 13”H x 12”W x 30”L it will be pumped to two GB’s 8”H x 12”W x 48”L(grow medium measurements) they will drain into a 8”H x 8”W x 96”L sump that will pump back to the tank. This is all designed to fit into a stand that I’ll build along 1 wall.

I do have an itching thought to put a 20”H x 12”W x 48”L (190L Tank) instead of the 75L one. But I really like the 2:1 ratio and the heavily stocked idea so obviously I’d have to figure out more GB, I know that I could get an additional 75L just by making the two beds 4” higher (it still leaves a lot of GB to make up for). I’d hope that the size upgrade would allow me to have edible fish, or should I just forget about eating my fish?

Thanks for any input you have!
