Hi
This is my first post. I'm looking for some help finding free information on how to build a floating raft system. Rocks are to hard to work with and it seams that using no rocks is a lot easier.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum :wave1:

A raft is really quite simple. Instead of rocks you use a raft on water with water flowing across the root zone. TCLynx has actually got a raft bed with no flow, just an aerator and regular water changes/top ups I think. Is there anything in particular you need to know?

There are heaps of threads within the forum about rafts and DWC. You may find it difficult to get a step by step design and guide but with plenty of reading and best of all... trial, you will find it quite easy.

Heres a bit of reading to get you started..

search.php?keywords=raft&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sk=t&sd=d&sr=topics&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

search.php?keywords=DWC&terms=all&author=&sc=1&sf=titleonly&sk=t&sd=d&sr=topics&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search

Use the search function to look for key words or threads and feel free to ask questions :thumbleft:

You will run into problems without the gravel. It sets up a place for nitrification and filters particle waste. Without gravel your roots to become dirty and kill the plants. Yes you can use aquarium type filters, but it adds A LOT of extra work cleaning. As your fish grow larger it only gets worse.
