Hi All,
I am still new to the forum and thought that I would show a quick pic of my system. I am running the system really as a bit of a trial, so i have tried to incorporate all the different types of aquaponics that I an. I have blue barrel growbeds, am in the process of building strawberry towers, and have also just added a NFT system as well.

I am in the process of converting the whole thing to solar as well.

I am having a few issues with the plumbing, in that I am getting the classic drip...drip...drip...drip in some places....now to go through and hunt them out!

Cool, got a great start. What is the bed nearest the camera made of. I am assuming it is a floating bed of some type right?

Hey Dan, Looks like you have one of every type there... :)

I notice in your blog photos that your irrigation water is squiring out onto the bed, best if you can twist your pipes around so the water goes straight down into the media, that will stop algae growing.

Hi helomech, It is a NFT channel setup. It is 225mm wide (am not sure of the height). It has pots that go into it where you grow the veggies.

earthbound... thanks very much for the tip...I will be sure to change it when I get back home! One question though? I did this first but then found that the veggies in the middle of the growbed were not getting enough water... I am assuming that this id because the water is not going up high enough in the growbed before draining?

What determines the height of the water level in the beds Dan? (We use a standpipe)
If your pump is on a timer is the water filling to an inch below the surface in that time? The water should be roughly the same level right across the bed, as water finds its own level.

Hi Guys and Gals,

Have been working on the aquaponics system and have finally got it all working off the grid and growing quite well. it is looking a little bare at the moment after some harvests. I just got a go pro camera so have been playing with video updates...

have a look if you are interested:

Very tidy looking system there Danny :thumbright:

If i wasnt so damned lazy i would be trying solar too :)

For youtube, you embed the last lot of jibberish from the url between the youtube brackets.

So copy the bold bit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=JcCH22g5yCg

between the [youtube] and [y/outube] without the spelling error :)

hey rsevs3 the solar part of the system wouldn't have been so difficult if I wasnt afraid of heights! I rigged it all up myself, and at first it didnt work, but it turned out that one of the cables wasnt pushed in far enough into the panel, and then it all worked!

am still making the fine tuning changes required, but all in all taking shape.
