Well I thought I was over stocked with fish as the system has been pretty stressed by a week of over 40º weather. Plus I thought it would be nice to take a few Kilos of fish to the barbecue I was to attend.

I took out 10 of the biggest fish, which lightened the load, but alas the temps being so high I lost 2 smaller fish over night plus the entire crop of about 10 fish who has escaped into the sump tank when they were tiddlers.

So mission accomplished, from around 30kg of fish down to around 15kg, although I hate losing fish.

White fly is really causing me problems but the Tomatoes are going to be huge this year. I found these tomato plants growing down the back yard from where I had been throwing unwanted fruit last year. So I dug them up and gave them half a barrel, have been harvesting one or two a day already and they are very nice, very thin skin. I think they are beefsteaks.

John Fenn from York WA signing off and I wish you all a great 2013.

J

I forgot to mention that unlike last harvest I removed the skin from the fish and there was no muddy taste whatsoever. Besides which by removing the gill ribs at filleting time there were no bones in the fillets. So into a zip loc bag went the fillets (about 20 pieces) salt and pepper, cajun spices with a little extra cayenne because we like chilli up here, some olive oil, then onto the barbie.

The were very popular and I wuz a hero, which of course is what it's all about, yes?

Have a good one guys,

Those guys are 3 years old, altho Carey Nagle who I buy them from tells me they are small for the time, I should be pushing more food into them, he says they should go over a kilo for 3 years.

I am about ready to get rid of my system as my house and land is soon to be torn up for a new house/granny flat development.

When I get the new house finished I shall have a new system build into the courtyard as an integral part of the courtyard,

If I cannot find a buyer here in York I shall put it up for sale here. I reckon it is worth about $3000.
