Hi, brief introduction. i stumbled across aquaponics about 4 months ago and instantly planned to get a system. I have got most of the stuff to get my first system up and running and i'm exited. I just don't really know what size pipes to use. Its about 90 gallons total with a 45 gall fish tank, sump and grow bed. i'm thinking i should use 3/4" pipes from sump to fish tank to grow bed then double for every thing draining back to the sump with a 3" bell syphon. how does that all sound?

Any layouts? If not, can you describe the flow? (Sump to FT to GB to Sump...)

From what I can guess, 3/4" is fine. Doubling every pipe is excessive and a 3" Bell siphon is overkill (Unless you are talking about the gravel guard? (3" Guard>1.5" Bell> 3.4" Stand) . I typically just up size the pipe but always have a backup overflow.
