Murray Cod should be arriving tomorrow.
Sized from 3-5cm.

Managed to get them for $4 each, so if you are still interested, throw me a pm. :)

The only fish not allowed in WA are those listed on the noxious fish list

So I thought I'd resurrect this old thread as I have just dusted off my system for a 2nd time. It has been mothballed for 6 years mostly because of house extensions.

I started preparing an area 4 weeks ago to move the system there and make it the water feature right next to the new alfresco. Finally finished shifting it on Sunday then figured I'd zip down and get some seedlings to plant. Little did I know that these had been the latest target of panic buying - I guess they had enough toilet paper now.

Did get some tomato seedlings and some seeds, so am going to have to raise the seeds.

Now, up there back in 2012 I was speculating the bacteria can survive, and I think I can confirm that. 3 days after starting a fishless cycle, amonia is 0.5ppm, nitrite 0 and nitrate is 30ppm.

Is this actually possible?

Very interesting!!
I'm hoping that it's possible, about half of the media that I have in my current build is expanded clay that I picked up cheap about a year ago from someone who took down their AP system. It actually was moist in capped buckets, so we'll see if I experience the same kind of thing.

If you give a man a fish, he can make an AP system, but if you give a man too many fish, he'll probably have problems with ammonia.
