We haaaaave Aquaponics!

Nothing special, single IBC constant flood. We used the instructions in the IBC of Aquaponics book as a guide. And we made it look pretty.

Put some cladding on it:

Hid the Plumbing:

Then we put some gravel and water in it!

Aw, thanks guys!

Setup's all finished now, we hid all the cables to the shed and whatnot, made a lid, prettified (that's a word) the drainage, and put in some plants! :blob8: :blob5: :blob4:

I wasn't going to put pictures of cable hiding, but Charl's all pleased with himself, so here it is:

Here's the pretty lid, which also doubles as an excellent spot to put my bucket of water for washing seedlings:

This is what we did with the draining water, to make a bit of a water feature out of it, and I also thought it would provide a bit more aeration:

And finally we have some plants! I've got some Chives, Parsley, Oregano, and Thyme (cuz they all came in a punnet together), also some Spinach in the other corner, and up the back I've stuck in some seeds for some red, yellow, and green Capsicums. I've never grown a vegetable in my life, and haven't had much luck with many other plants either, sooo, I guess we'll see how we go with those.

Mmmm neat underbed there Charles, that is gonna be a hard act for some to live up to. I've seen a lot that is more like spaghetti work with pipe and electrical stuuff going every which way. I think untidy pipes put a lot of people off, the attention to neatness is a credit to you, thanks for sharing those photos with us Sarah :)

Charl's always neat and tidy and attentive to details, I'm the messy one :-)

Thanks Brett&Vicky

Oh, ccBear, I didn't see that there. The extention is the reason we put the drain in the corner instead of the middle :thumbright:

Just went and checked on it, all running smoothly. Nothing noticably growing yet :-(

Very cool!! Beautiful cover and I like the way you guys did the "water feature" aeration for the fish tank. I told the hubby we might have to borrow some ideas...

Lol, they sure will Bullwinkle!

Go right ahead trivial! The water feature bit's really easy, it's just an extra length of pipe with a cap on the end and some holes drilled along it, then just twist it around til you like the angle it's coming out :-) We tried it with just a long slit running along it to make a curtain, it looked ok, but there wasn't really enough pressure for it to look as amazing as I'd hoped, and it was also *really* noisy.
