Hi all... here's my little system..I'm from Austria (Central Europe)

Since our balcony is rather small and wasn't used very much, the decision has been made to add a little aquaponic system to gain some experience and see how things go.

I bought 3 Samla boxes from IKEA (130l volume). One is the fishtank and the other 2 got promoted to growbed status.
I guess that makes it a 100l system.

To make things simple I decided to start with constant flood instead of adding a siphon but should be able to change that if necessary.
The GBs drain directly into the tank below.

I got 3 small fish (koi, carp) by chance so I added those hoping they'd make it through the first day, and 2 weeks later they're still alive and starting to eat.

The veggies weren't all that happy and I nearly lost 2 tomatoes and a strawberry but they seem to do better now.

At least the peas do fine

Here's a picture of a fish... I tried my best but they don't like me much and hide as soon as I open the lid.

As for numbers... Here's what ph, ammonia etc look like

As far as I can tell the system seems to have cycled pretty quickly and unless I mess things up it should do fine. The NO3 rising yesterday was me adding nitrates to the system in fear the plants might be hungry because the fish aren't very hungry yet. and I might have to add a few goldfish or something ...

I removed the strawberry today because it was doing pretty badly... and the roots seemed to be rotten. They looked rather bad as well.

The peas and celeriac seem to do just fine though... I guess I didn't clean the strawberry properly before planting it...

Still one more thing to worry about... apart from the bad weather.

Hi Clows,
Don't worry about the odd dud plant.
Nice to see the new setup.
You will find the leafy plants, celery, spinich etc will do very well.
Nice to have you in the group.
