I'm having trouble resizing picture to the 800 by 600 requirement. I'm using a MAC laptop and IPhoto. I'll have to look into my camera some more about changing the pixel size to begin with. Also will have to spend more time with IPhoto.

Any one using a MAC for uploading pictures? :dontknow:

I used my iphone today to take pics, sent them to my computer via email, the phone asked me what size to send, I chose the smallest, that seemed to be small enough, try that. I can't upload photo's through the phone yet

I use Aperture but I just had a play with iPhoto '08.

Highlight the picture you want to use by clicking on it then click 'File' > 'Export' from the top menu.
In the pop up box choose 'File Export' then
Kind: JPEG
JPEG Quality: Medium
Size: Medium (will constrain it 640px) or Custom (enter 800 in the Dimension box)
Click 'Export'

or another quick way is to click the email icon in the lower right corner of iPhoto
choose Size: Medium (will constrain it 640px)
click 'Compose'
Drag the picture from the email to your desktop
Close the email choosing not to save a draft

To upload it to the forum in your post click 'Choose File' (or drag the picture from the desktop to it) in the Upload Attachment box below your reply.

Thanks to all for the tips on how to post pics.

Pete-Seems like IPhoto will do the trick for now. The key was converting the original formats to jpeg and of course the lower pixels.

I use a Mac - am fortunate to have PhotoShop on it (thru supporting ad designers here at work) but haven't a clue how to use any of the editing tools!

So I use a built-in photoshop Script to squish photos for posting, Under File menu it's in "Scripts..." and it's called "Image Processor."

Just plug in "800x600" (and it remembers this setting) and tell it where the whole folder of photos is and it squishes them all, very little reduction in quality.

It's like using a sledgehammer to drive in a tack but as such, it's very fast and does a great job of it.

The Windows version of Photoshop will work exactly the same way, I reckon.

Part 1 (Part 2 to follow soon.)

Hello again to all,

First off I would like to apologize for not thanking and replying quickly to all your helpful responses.

Last October, the long range weather forcasts where all about cold and a lot of snow. So between my full time job and busting my butt around here on our hobby farm, I wasn't able to enjoy the pleasant things in life such as this forum.

Also, you folks got me so excited and worked up about aquaponics    I had a heart attack and triple bypass Dec 14 and 15.

All of which came as a real shock to me especially since all of my yearly checks never showed any of the usual risk factors. Before December, I was interested in growing our own food from a very simplistic point of view. Now more than ever, I am very determined to raise food with out any chemicals what so ever. Reason being is that the Veterans Administration has determined that my current condition is presumed to be caused by my exposure to Agent Orange back in the late 60's. Therefore I don't want to take any more chances with any chemicals.

Part 2 of this message will soon follow after I relearn how to post pictures.

Long story short, I've terminated my 5 gal. bucket experiment because the fathead minnows developed "black spot", an external parasite. I've also decide not to start out with the traditional "Barrel-Ponics" setup. I'll be going with an elevated and constant water height FT which flows by gravity into GBs of blue barrels. Again flow is by gravity into a ST of sorts that lays under the FT and GBs. One pump takes water from the ST and pumps the water up to the FT. I'm hoping to use a battery operated small hobby servo/spider "thingy" to direct water from the FT to the different flood and drain GBs.

Anyway thanks again for all your help. Sorry for the long delay getting back to ya.

Bob H
