Finally getting around to adding a new 2.4m x 1.2m growbed to my fishpond.

I have had a few small plastic growbeds attached but thought it was time to add something decent.

We have a had a bit of rain recently in Qld so I got my gravel droppped off in the natural water course the rain follows coming down the driveway. It has certainly been a help washing the gravel but it still needs a final rinse before being ready for the growbed.

I have a sump and the plastic grow beds behind the fish tank but the finance minister wanted something more aestheticly pleasing next to the pool area.

I reckon the finance minister should be very happy with your work :D

Did you check the gravel? I checked quite a few gravel media lately and found the blue metal very reactive. Went for a more expensive river pebble, that was neutral.

Cheers DunderOz.

This is the same source I got my last lot from so shouldn't have any issues.

Thanks for the heads up tho.

I have completed the sleeper walls and have installed some black plastic to line the bottom of the GB. I will be using some EPDM liner to line the GB. I have mounded the soil in the middle of the GB to form two channels on the side which flow towards the GB outlet which flows back into the FT.
Now to get back to finishing washing the gravel.
Hope to move the gravel into the GB this week.

Well I have most of the gravel loaded and have placed a couple of seedlings in to see how things take off. I had a couple of small plastic GB's before and I emptied these into the large GB a couple of inches below the surface hoping the good bacteria will get the plants off to a good start. Still got a bit of tidying up to do some more gravel to load and trim the liner but progress is being made.
