The plan is to build a Small NFT system,
As we are only renting here for a short time, I didn't want to build some thing that was to heavy or to BIG to move in a few months!......

Design: Pump from Fish tank through the Biofilter then in to Hydro Channels then drain back to fish tank
Additional Aeration from air pump in fish tank air purge in to bio filter during back flush should keep O2 up enough.

Parts that I already have:

1x Fish Tank - 600 to 700 Litre tank ( was built as a birthing pool for my two girls one of which was born in it ! )

1x Drum as biofilter plus scoria as filter medium ( I bobcat load, wasn't cheap either )

1x Pump ( 2500 per hr, 60 watt Pump )

Have obtain some fittings but differently need some more!

so for some pictures,

This is the fish tank, fibre glass over ply over steel frame, I tend to over engineer. Hey doesn’t leak though!

File comment: Picked up these drums from paramount browns in Adelaide, had Pickles in brine, still smell like it too!... Got the lids with them still had the rubber seals intend to push the water through them as a back flushable biofilter.

Try Stuart at www.thefishfarm.com.au ... he might be able to help you out with Silver Perch...

There aren't any Jade Perch hatcheries in SA,... and you'll have to source out of QLD... and they wont be available until Dec.... and even then.. will be small...

Am looking at getting some SP shortly too, perhaps we should combine the trip..

There was also a place in Two Wells or near there that had silver and jade and various other fingerlings advertised on gumtree about a month ago but they don't seem to have any in stock currently.. http://www.1aquaponics.com.au/

Well Spoke to Stuart! He will have silver perch in January some time! So unsure what I should keep first up, spoke to Andre at W.B.A hatcheries in west lakes, they have barra all year round so that could be an option as well only need a lead time of a week to get them, amph you wanta try barra? they also supply the food too! :dontknow:

@charlie the camera is a canon Power shot SX110 IS 10x optical zoom and 9 mega pixels, it’s not a bad camera, few years old now wasn’t cheap when I first got it! Has some great bunny features!..... e.g dial up the right setting and point and shot can even make my camera work sharp LOL and that’s no easy feet ether :D

well as i have the camera in my hands i'll upload more photos of what i got done on the weekend!

Nice tank. How heavy is it? Don't know what your area is like where you are building but I wonder... before you build and fill, could you slide a pallet under to assist in the moving and transport?
Same for your growbeds. Heavy duty plastic pallets, metal, or strong wooden pallets may help when it comes time to move. Forklift or forks on a bobcat, set it on a trailer and transport to the new location.
Then you could keep your fish in the tank, keep your water, media, and bacteria where it is without disturbing it too much.
