Hey all

Finally got around to start the moving and expansion of my system. Basically, I will now have the FT's in a shed and the GBs in a larger area where I can build a hoop house or structure over it. This is 1 system I will have, I plan to build another in the same space

Inlets
CHOP2 system, all HP 25mm PVC piping glued or thread taped with 25mm ball valves at the GB's and FT. Running a 4500 lph pump 24/7

Siphon
Affnan style siphon, 25 - 32mm adapter up top with 25mm outlet back to sump

Air Supply
Will be running the 3000lph electromag air pump I had and also a battery backup air pump from the previous system

System
1 X IBC for the Rainbow Trout (as per last year) and 5 x cut IBC's as the GB's, this will give a 1:1.5 ratio. Have only set up 2 at the moment, more will be done shortly. Now need to start the cycling and have about 50 - 60 Rainbows at approx 110mm coming last day of this month

Readings
Temp = 17.8
PH = 7
Amm = 0
Nitrite = 0
Nitrate = 0

Just gave it a big dash of 100ml of Seasol and planted some vegies - let the cycling begin :)

Wow sounds nice... do you have any pictures?

By the way, while the filtration capacity should be able to support 60 trouts, won't that be too much for the volume of water?

Always go by the filtration not by water volume.

600L of filtration with a mature system can handle max 18kg. With 60 fish at say 100g each meaning 6kg worth of fish. He will need to start harvesting at 250-300g.

Hey Zman, I do get what you're saying, but you do reach a point where the trout have no more space to swim :)

I have 1500 litres of filtration and 50 trout, the system is fine ;)
