I only read about them today actually but the insert below from the web site below does not give the info you need, sorry.

http://www.ausyfish.com/back_yard_aquaponics.htm

"Murray cod are a fast growing fish. They would be he fastest growing of all the fish available from Ausyfish. When you consider their full genetic potential it's not surprising. Compared to silver perch and jade perch, which have a genetic potential of only a few kilos, Murray cod have the genetic potential to reach around 50 kilos ! This means a 1kg fish, IS JUST A BABY ! They also have the best temperature range for survival and growing. They are only suited for grow out in tanks as they need to be kept at high density to suppress territorial behaviour. They are PERFECT table fish ! The 2011 spawning season is the first season Ausyfish have produced Murray cod."

I was suprised actually because I was sure I had heard of people getting trout from him. I was trying to make an advance booking of 100 but he quickly shot me down. It was a stinking hot day too so I didn't bother to question him.

Yeah I would not doubt he couldn't do it, the property is on a hill and can get quite hot out there in summer. I may even be getting myself confused with Buxton trout farm.

I was wondering how the murray cod are going?

I had 100 and have so far lost 12 since the 2nd of January with the majority of these in January. The water quality is excellent and I still have them seperate to my aquaponics system. This was originally to keep them quarentined from the silver perch tank. I have since come to the conclusion as soon as there is a temperature swing down of more than 2 degrees they are prone to go belly up with no real sign of any problem. This does not bode well as the murray cod are to replace the silver perch as only 3 were lost in 18 months. I now have a heater in the tank to maintain the water temperature at about 25 degrees. Murray cod are supposed to handle low water temperatures so maybe this is when they have more body mass to regulate for sudden temperature changes rather than when they are fingerlings. They are growing rapidly and I have not lost any to cannabalism (touch wood) and they are feeding very well as long as that temperature is constant and above 22 degrees. Any advice would be much appreciated?
