Those toms are amazing EKB! If there is one thing I really want to grow it is toms... prices here have gone nuts for them and I love eating a salad with them. Super!... :D

Good one Les - I'm not far behind you, though I managed to kill the white fleshed SP cutting - so will have to start from scratch with that too.

Rats love sweet potatoes and other root crops. I have had them dig great big trenches in my garden to get to the sweet potatoes and also carrots.

Are you trying to grow sweet potatoes? Once you have the shoots remove them from the tuber and place into beds. Plant the shoot and it will take root. We tried growing them at the shop and were great for leafy new shoots which the asians steam and eat (also for sale at the markets in bunches). The tubers never developed, the plants didn't actually die down they just went ratty over winter and we pulled them out.
I wonder if anyone has succesfully grown the tubers in grow beds.

I have no intentions of growing the SP in the grow-bed, but it is a handy place to grow the shoots ready for planting them into the dirt garden (better than having the tubers in drink glasses in the kitchen like I have on previous occassions - much more palatable to the wife ). I expect Les intends to do the same.

Yep, shoved it in the GB to get the shoots for cuttings and plant in the dirt...think it was a rat so trap set

When it has done its job, will pull it out to have a look at the root growth :D
