3" Knife valve to prevent air from blowing into backup. I forgot that I need another to keep the backup from blowing through the main if I need to turn it on. I'll need to order another one.

This is the mbbr showing the K1 that gets stuck in the corner over the outlet pipes.

Nitrites still high..so much for the perceived "good news" of twice daily feeding from yesterday. No feeding today. Still over 2. The outlet water did drop .1 in PH though. The last few days it's been the same as incoming. That's a small silver lining on a pretty grey cloudy day. Proverbial, not literal. About 110 F heat index today. I think going on a vacation to a cooler climate is not a good idea when you have to go back and work in 100 degree weather. It just makes it harder. Trying not to bitch too much, I love outdoor work, but heading into the 5th straight month of 90-100 F temps wear on you.

I totally understand about the prolonged heat exposure. On top of that we've got four seasons, the two on either edge used to be moderate. Now it is a crap shoot for the type of clothing I need to wear to work outside. So now you've got two air pumps and they are called regenerative air pumps? Is this some type of turbine. Chris, you push the envelope, but you know this.

Yeah, at least here, during the other 6-7 months it's nice, and no snow.
I miss seasons, particularly Fall, but to be honest, don't much miss the snow & ice.
I was planning on a backup air blower, after I sold some fish after the 2nd harvest, but because of what happened with the first one, I had to buy another one much faster then I wanted to.
Yes, it is is simple turbine Brain. Produces a lot of air and low pressure. They're supposed to last for decades. My first one lasted less then 3 months. They warrantied it, but wouldn't refund my money, even though I was forced to purchase another unit to keep my fish alive. Not real happy about that, but ultimately, it's what I needed and planned on anyways.

It was a casting problem in the outer housing, It didn't allow the gasket to seat properly, and it leaked air. They said if they couldn't repair it, they would give me a refund. Since they were able to repair it, I was out another $850.00.

It's OK Swde. It was needed anyways, it just wasn't in the budget at the time.

I guy who owns a nice house on the local river where I used to fish a lot also is a local business owner. A few years back I congratulated him on building his nice new pad. It's close to a million house...very nice. Anyways, he thanks me and then said one of the strangest statements I've ever heard. " Yeah, it's pretty nice, and the 10K a month mortgage will keep me motivated to work hard." I thought about that for days, and never could figure out why one would want that type of payment monthly, or why that was needed for "motivation" to go to work.

Maybe, that's what I need, some more bills from the RAS to "motivate" me. :D

All I can add is, people are really weird about what they think they need. I work in some wealthy people's homes. It takes my full concentration to do a good looking installation in an expensive home, and that's a good thing too, because I tend to be judgmental and envious. Mostly I wish I'd have used my head more when I chose a career, then maybe I'd have a second house on a golf course too. I love being a tradesmen, but the service industry in the mountains were businesses and people are few and far between, make it hard to make a buck. I'm happy with my choices even if I didn't have a lot of them, if I wanted to live here on the family property. I already find it immensely enjoyable sitting on my boardwalk with my feet in the FT, better than a smelly golf course any day.

Well said Rogers.

I wasn't judging him, just shocked that he needed that kind of nut to keep him motivated.

I see people with tons of money all the time that are miserable. They have priorities mixed up, and their personal lives are a mess. I also know very successful people who have a lot of "stuff", but who are still well adjusted and have their priorities in line. Most of these are very generous and give generously to charities, church, etc. They realize their talents ans assets are a gift from God, and that it's more important how they treat people then how many zeros are at the end of their check.

Money certainly helps, but if it's your only and ultimate goal, you will a miserable soul.

Looks like I may be turning the corner on the cycling/nitrite issue.
last few days, they have dropped to around .5 each AM, and I've been able to feed 2-3 times per day and keep nitrites in that level.

If I can maintain this for the remainder of the week, I'll call Ryan and get my Koi delivered!

Still between .5- 1, and feeding 3 times per day for the last week. Looks like everything is getting there. Bring on the koi!
