Fabian, if the tank is an old dtyle gal tank... then you'll definitely have problems... and fatalities...

The newer gal tanks are "aquaplated"... and shouldn't have too many problems...

bitumen based food grade style paint

http://www.crommelin.com.au/images/newP ... Colour.pdf

although it is a pretty crappy job, and there appears to be some blistereing as it was too much moisture in the tank when I painted it

alright so..

I found 1 floater and I had only fed them a couple of worms..so it is decidedly the tank

buried the floater only to find 2 dead sinkers....they didnt look like they had been dead for that long so I doubt they are responsible for all the deaths

I drained the tank and found 2 livies and transferred them to the sump, so i now have 4/12 alive in the sump ...... so we will see how they go

and if the gal tank is de/recommisioned

Gal tank is now officially decommisioned. 4 trout still kicking it in the sump and seem to look alot happier.. I have done a big water change in there.. I thought Melbourne had chloramines, but after leaving water stand for a day and then detting a 0 on a ammonia test I assume it doesnt?.. I could just look it up on the web but...effort.

I have hooked up a SLO in a green 500L bunnings water tank so even though its a downgrade liter wise at least it should be safe..need a couple of days to silastic it.. might be up and going by friday..

all in all not too bad of an outcome

I think strawberries are very susceptible to disease. Deosn't look very happy, might have to cull it. Other plants look tops though!

Glad to hear the remaining trout are happier, good work

yo,

trout have been alive for a week and a half no death since tank swap over..they seem to be eating fine.. they do seem a little lethargic and huddle around the aerator even though there is 4x gb returns so shouldnt be any DO problems.. so makes me wonder if they are a little hungover from the zinc over dose

after reading arbes system thread I was thinking of adding 1-3 Blue barrel filters to my system maybe just filled with scoria..

cant really figure out how to plumb them in yet I would prefer to keep it all on 1 pump and possible if I can not have to drill through the side of the BB's as that seems to get me trouble with leeks etc.

How are your ammonia and nitrite levels though Fabian? Not much sense in have more biofilter if you don't need it.
