Home alone, parts to repair the computer still haven't arrived... and I split a radiator hose on the way up to the Holmes-A-Court job this morning...

Decided to have trout for tea....

Braised celery, stir fries, celery with peanut butter or cream cheese- yum. I tried celery soup once, need a better receipe- has anyone got a good one? It is great how you can pick and it just keeps growing, I reckon I had my first plant for 12 months or more.

Every second Wednesday my daughter finishes school early and gets home around 12:30... luckily today was one of those days...

Rang me while was onsite in Mittagong to say the power was tripped... and she couldn't reset it... and the trout were gasping on the surface...

The other fish were fine...

The battery backup on the trout system is only good for about two to three hours... and with about 50+ kilo of fish in the tank... I figured they must have been without oxygen for about an hour and a half...

Which means the darn power must have tripped not long after I left this morning...

After about a half an hour... numerous phone calls... and numerous combinations of removing pumps/filters etc... and resetting...

We managed to isolate the pump in the Silver Perch tank as the device causing the trip...

Got everything back online... other than the offending growbed supply pump...

By the time I got home... all but about three trout were fine... the three looking like they wouldn't make it...

Given that I'll be away most of the next month... with the "Holmes-A-Court" project, trips to Wyong/Newcastle... Dubbo, Brewarrina and Nyngan for deliveries and installations... then commencement of the "Skills Garden" project (more later)...

And with some of the trout close to a kilo... decided to bank some fish and lower the oxygen load in the tank in case of failure...

Took a few lucky dip scoops... and pulled 20 trout... to be vacumn packed...

All up... 20 trout... 11.36kg... an average weight of 568gm...

Things have been a bit neglected lately, due to other work committments... especially my normal filter maintenance of the trout system... and the filter attached to the holding tank for the trout intended for Holmes-A-Court...

The colour of the water in both systems suggested that I needed to do something, and soon....

Measured the ammonia level in the holding tank... and nearly fell over.... at least 4...

As the Holmes-A-Court projeect wont be ready for fish for another couple of weeks... and looking at the state of the filter...

I moved the trout into my big trout tank.... All 78 of them....

No wonder the filter was a mess and the ammonia up....

I had thought that there was only about 40+ in the tank... and I've been feeding at least twice a day....

Mind you, considering the numbers were twice what I thought they were... it means I was (luckily) under-feeding...

Still they seem to be growing OK... found a couple of freshly dead small ones as I cleaned the holding tank out...

Dead lucky I decide to do the maintenance... other wise I would probably have lost the lot over the rest of the day...
