Think max wind gust was recorded at 135kph in Ulladulla... but it had eased a bit by the time it hit us...

Just the position is fully exposed to the southerly... the shape and shade cloth cover acts as a lot of wind resistance... and the 20mm pipe is just too flexible...

Will strip it all down and redesign something more substantial...

Nah Nocky... OBO got hit way more than me...

Same kind of storm has ripped into Lennox Head this morning... left a dozen injured and one dead...

First officially designated "tornado" in Australia...

Funny part was I snapped a "water spout" off Kiama a couple of days before the storm hit us on the south coast...

Not sure about that.
There has been a few hit WA that far as I know were classed as tornado's.

ie source : Emergency management australia
2006
Severe winds hit the communities of Leschenault and Australind, north of Bunbury, at approximately 1.45 am local time on 7 August causing significant damage. The Bureau of Meteorology stated the damage was consistent with a tornado reaching speeds of around 250 km/h and was confined to a path around 200 metres wide and 2 kilometres long with only minor damage reported in other areas.

Under the offical list of tornado

Skimming through this thread. I love the system you've built-up... but that's some damned bad luck on the weather front there.

Cyclones are more common.
The localized twister effect demolishing a narrow strip has been rare but seems to be occurring more often.

A cyclone is more like a hurricane or typhoon
