Temp ranges from 75 at night to 81 in day or there abouts Dave. Yes, its just for testing the collector. Running nearly five weeks now and no problems that I can tell with the Guppies, Haven't seen any babies though and of the 20 or so most are pregnant females.
I only have a few hides in the tank for little ones so I'm thinking either they get ate or the water quality is not condusive to birthing, time will tell as they can stay in the garage till mid September or so.

The guppies are birthing so I am concluding the collector is good to go for AP.

Hot and humid here as of late, Lost 9 Yellow Perch due to high water temps last eve. Just picked em out of the tank this morn. You all know what dead fish look like so no pictures.
I had added a bubbler and a bigger pump for more aireation but no help against the heat. Think I have 9 left so I spose I'll move them to the garage till the heat drops and stick the Talapia in the green house.
Lesson learned: I think for me, is the fish tank should not be in the green house.
Guppies are still birthing and the Talapia have been exposed to the collector heated water and are doing fine.
Harvesting cherrie toms and only one or two cuc's growing yet.
Going to do a major over haul of the system this fall or I'm just dreaming.
I hate to admit it but I may be giving up on YP's.

Hi GF, sorry again for the losses. What were the temps when they died? What temperature do you think would be safe for YP?

Swapped the YP's with the Talapia and discovered the T's had babies. Thanks JP! Now what to do. I can't count em, spose around 100. Will set up a 30 Gallon in the house or fill up one of the big tanks again.
The YP count ended up being 8 remaining so it was an even swap with the T's.
Now what was that Egg mix, just the yoke? Toss the salt over your shoulder and down the shot?
Again thanks Grandma JP!

Dave I didn't measure but with my finger before I went to work last and it was hot to the touch so high 90's I say. I wouldn't think they could take low 90's for an extended time. Thats probally the 50 die 50 live temp.

John;
If you're looking to lighten your T baby load, I would be happy to take some off your hands. =)
I'm close enough I could probably drive it pretty easily[1]. I'd be happy to pay a bit for them. :geek:

I need to re-read this thread, since I'm in similar temp conditions. It just occurred to me  that my garage would make a fine place for tanks in the spring/summer/fall.

[1] I have a hybrid so this isn't as horrifying as it sounds...

Let me get em to fighting weight, they are the size of newborn guppies at the moment.
How may are you thinking?

I'm in Minneapolis.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be looking to get all that many. Probably 10-20, maybe some more, but I would be more than happy to throw together another system to get my hands on some (relatively) local JP tilapia!

Not sure Faye. First time growing them this year. Harvested all the dirt ones, they averaged a yield of 2 per vine. Waiting for the AP ones to ripen, for a taste test. They are great, you do need to try them!
Can share a Baked Spaghetti Squash recipie if you get ahold of one. Yummmm.
The good thing is I have two more growing on the other side of the roof.

That's an offer too good to refuse, I'll make it my mission to get me some seeds. Can you please send the recipe and I'll cook it up at the BYAP kitchen, you can send it to magazine@backyardaquaponics.com. We are working on the next edition now and the free / first edition had has a major revamp, well worth another look.
