Nice to see people dealing with "things" as discrete units of interestingness :)

It's an interesting conundrum there bullwinkle.

Entropy always wins, so eventually your energy will end up as heat I guess... If you manage to do something useful with it along the way then that's a bonus :-)

I don't think there's a lot of useful work that can be done with a backyard Stirling engine, so even if you do manage to break the laws of thermodynamics I'm sure that the relevant deities would be happy to turn a blind eye :-)

I'm not so sure about the whole entropy thing.

If you get some nice warmish grains of normal every day sand...say a Zillion tons or so and throw them into zero G, they form ...like... a sand condensate that gets all warm and interesting. Much more interesting than the original only slightly warm sand.

So much more that if you stroll on back and have a peek after a few million years or so, you might find something peeking back.

I think gravity is anti-entropy.

I think gravity is the lump of the universe that makes all the math(s) balance out.

Gravity, and non-dairy thick shakes.

I think non-dairy shakes might be important as well.

Nope... that's dark matter...

Possibly... there could well be a lot of "dark matter" in a non-dairy milk shake...

Could be, you'll know for sure if the universe ceases to exist after you've drunk the last chocolate stout. :D

Geek2Nurse, glad to find you here. Are you ready for another greenhouse yet? lol I've been through some of your pics in this thread, very impressive. Do you have an album of pics of your aquas and your greenhouse. Aqua seems to be really catching on I'd say one in eight greenhouses I sell are going for aquaponics now days. Keep up the good work and enjoy your house. Steve

What kind of a place was a phone booth for nudity concealment in the first place?

Life is filled with unanswered questions. However we can give BW peace with an answer to one of his many questions.

The first phone booths were made of wood. But people complained of the closed space (not sure if they had the word claustrophobia back then), so they put in windows at the top. Notice they didn't make the entire wall with windows, only at the top. Mostly this was due to horses (they shied away from their reflections in the glass), vehicles throwing rocks with their tires (they were all diesel back then, by the way), and kids with rocks. Kids liked to throw rocks so it was easier to replace the top windows than the entire wall.

All this leading up to... when you had a late night poker game and bet everything you had on the hand you were dealt... "I got nothing left boys" "Sure you do. That's a nice set of duds you got on. How's about betting on them?" "Alright, gimme another shot from that bottle first." "Damn, lost again."... Wait in the phone booth until a decent hour to call a friend to have them deliver another set of duds.

And that's how the legend of nudity in the phone booths came to be.

Hang on Joe, let me call the boss. There's a phone booth right around the corner.

AAAHHHHHH!!!! My eyes! My eyes!

Alright, that's it! No more naked drunks in phone booths. We gotta figure out how to keep them out. OOhh I know! Lets put really thick glass in the walls.

But all the kids are still asking, what's a phone booth? the older generations says that is where you find a pay phone. And the kids still being baffled (having not seen enough movies from the past several generations) say "What's a PAY PHONE?" (Ya ever notice in lots of places where there used to be lots of pay phones, whole walls and banks of them, there often are not ANY now days?
