Just got caught up on this thread. Very nice system! I saw where you had just finished with a tour. Do you have regular scheduled tours? I would love to visit and see the system!

A local magazine did a small article on my AP stuff...... they got it mostly right, but a couple things were wrong and since they dont allow me to pre-view it before publication, I guess it will have to stay that way....

heres the link http://www.encorepub.com/welcome/?p=2157

thanks
JT

not sure...

mine are in a greenhouse and it stays really warm even at night, I guess because of the 2000 gallons of water, and about 6 tons of gravel...

First real cold overnight temps of the year.....

last night got down to 22 degrees (-5.5c) tomorrow morning supposed to be down to
18 degrees (-7.7c)

I put a no-vent propane wall heater in the GH..... worked pretty well GH bottomed out at
50 degrees (10c) which was pretty good since I dont have the ceiling, or side walls doubled up yet...... after getting them made up with the double layers of plastic, I think I will be able to hold at least 58-60 degrees (14 - 15.5c)

Noticed some chatter about fish food and waste laying on the bottom of the fish tank...

thought I would post how mine is set up

First, my system is CHIFT PIST so water is brought up from the ST and pumped up
over the side of the fish tank....

it's then directed down to a pipe at the bottom of the FT, that goes all the way across, in this pipe is lots of holes that are parallel to the FT bottom so as the water rushes out of the holes it sweeps the bottom.

as the water flows towards the ends of the FT, it curves up toward the surface and then curls back down to the center pipe and repeats the process until the pump stops.

I have an air stone in each corner of my rectangular FT which keep the waste from building up in the corners....

as the water is forced in the circular pattern, it passes the overflow pickups (slo pipe) over and over again, which helps to suck out more waste.

So this is how my FT works and it stays really clean without any effort...

JT
