Good to see the fishies part of the system coming along.

How many fish did you order?

That was the hard part. I didn't know what sort of attrition rate to expect. There was a Really Good Deal if I ordered 100, and it costs the same to ship 100 as to ship 25, but Tangent helped me talk my woman brain out of thinking more for the money was really a good idea. I think 25 fish is probably the max I would want in my system. But I can probably expect some degree of attrition. So I ordered 30. That seems pretty conservative to me at the moment...but they are tilapia (Mozambique), so really, as long as I can keep even a handful of them alive to grow and multiply, I'll eventually probably have more than I want.

It's a funny thing, but I was wondering what this bacon salt product was all about.

Me too. So I got myself some too. :)

I've decided to make "winner" a "Thing" on 120 Things, so I've been thinking I'll enter some competitions. So far I have a 100% success rate* at winning, so I'm deluded enough to try again :)

I figure winning stuff might be a good test of the invention engine, and the competition descriptions act as a pretty good brief.

I like it!

Careful with that instructables site! It has rather strong addictive qualities...

A spreadsheet is a great idea! Thank you for sharing. I'm going to start one to aid me.

I had actually won a Pro Account on Instructables once. Apparently they liked my soda making instructable.

Congratulations on pulling the trigger on those fish finally. I'm hoping tomorrow is a nice day so I'll be motivated enough to go outside and work on my system's plumbing.

Are you still swinging by tomorrow to pick up that bottom half of the IBC? I had totally forgotten but the wife asked as she remember stuff like that better then I do.

I read that soda making work of yours.

I cant remember who sent me to it.

I love it when I find someone from one forum on another forum.

It makes the world seem more cosy.

I think I saw Food&Fish on an Aussie BBQ forum today when I was researching smoking fish and meats. I have no idea if it was our Food&Fish because I didn't hang around for long on this visit, but it's always nice to see a familiar name, and it can really help to fast track you to the forum members that know stuff if you recognise someone.

I did, after visiting him while I was in San Diego. It sounded like your kind of thing. :)

I may have shamelessly plugged somewhere on your thread too... That would have been like 100 or so pages back.

Nope, they're coming right to my front door! :)

Just checked my levels for the first time in forever, and my pH is up to 8.2. Everything else is zero (my plants are gonna be so happy to finally have fish!). Do I need to worry about the pH? It's never varied from its usual 7.4-7.6 (depending whether I use the regular or high test) before.

The fish people might tell what pH the fish have been living in so you can match it.

But I don't really know. I just felt like contributing. :)
