still tryn to work out what to do with em

Bundy the bottom halves (with drain hole) ... do they have a solid base or are they grated like the top part??

At the moment I'd say probably bloody good yabbie trays..... but would seem a waste to use the bottom ones for that.....

Maybe lined, filled with hydroton (possibly rookwool) and growing tomatoes.... either drip feed by timers and excess collected by the outlets... or even flood and drain with loop siphons???

They usually come as a set of two, top one grated bottom one water tight........ would make great little bonsai fruit tree setup, input water periodically for 5 minutes

they are 370W x 500L X 200D

Rope the top one has the holes in it and sits nicely into the bottom one which is just a normal tub (with drian fittings).

I was thinking of putting hydrotron in and putting in shallow root plants and just watering them periodically letting the bottom tub drain back into either a sump or my fishtank.

BK - my first ever system comprised 1 level of my Reln wormfarm (similar to your top containers - perched in a Nylex storage crate, with a drain in the bottom of the crate. Similar setup to what you have there, though I used gravel rather than hydroton and ran the pump continuously (using a grid for continuous flow). The only thing to watch is that in time the roots will start to impede the flow out of the bottom container. In your case this should not be an issue though if you are not running continuously and also it will be easy enough for you to lift the top container out and trim the roots if necessary. I'd be tempted to run continuous flow though, rather than turn on and off. I think on and off is better for F&D where the whole bed gets soaked (which doesn't happen as well with CF).
