I now just either wait to feed until the system is on the drain cycle or just nudge the timer round till it is off. Problem with the air pump turned out to be ants!

Major take home for me is make sure you've got a damn good backup system if running trout!

My nitrates are building - now at about 60ppm. Are there any other winter plants that can suck them up I wonder?

How about cauliflowers? Mine are powering along- it's probably a bit colder here than there in winter, and I've already harvested 2 heads from early May plantings, a month before I had fish in, and will pick another 2 maybe tomorrow. They were growing well early on, but really took off after the fish went in and nitrites went up.

Might be worth a go - My broccoli seems to have gone into stasis as far as leaf growth is concerned - just trying to pump out flowery side shoots now. Will pick up some Cauli seedlings on the way home....
Thanks
Matt

I'm surprised how much the silver perch are eating - I was expecting minimal food input, though they're getting through 3-4 handfuls a day. Water temps only between 14 and 16 degs typically.

Ok Matty, I know you're still poking your nose in the forum so time to pipe up.
Last I remember you were keeping barramundi in a heated tank in a shed, care to let us know how you went?
Consider this a bump...

Holy smoke! That system is busting at the seams. It's a testament to your building and design skills that it is doing so well without you at the helm! Very nice and thank you Mattyoga.
