This amazing system was my motivation for getting into AP. Somehow I missed the little "forum" link at the top of the homepage...so your system was all I had seen for a few weeks.

As far as the badger badger thing...my old roomie opened up a few browsers of that and got it playing in a round...

I wanted to die.

Ok, I spent a bit of time out this evening with some big spotlights shining in the tank, trying to get some good pics of the silver perch in my system. It's still hard to get good pics, but I think these probably give a good indication of the size of the fish, and the stocking density I have in there at the moment..

Man, there's some fish in there.... :)

Bio farmer and I did some water tests on my system today, in case anyone is interested..

temperature - 14 degrees C
pH - 6.0 or less
Ammonia - 0
Nitrites - 0
Nitrates - 100

Weighed 3 random fish, they were between 350g and 450g.

Plants are still growing well, I've harvested loads of peas and snow peas, and they were just starting to show signs of some fungus on the pants so I sprayed with a dilute milk spray.

I really need to replant a bed of two, I think the nitrate levels are because a couple of the beds have very old plants in them that aren't growing much, I need to plant some new ones to strip out the nitrates.

you continue to break all the rules and preconceived ideas about AP. Many would think your system should have collapsed with ph at or below 6, yet, you have no ammonia or nitrite and shit loads of fish. Your system must be soooo mature, it writes its own rule book. Freaking magnificent

Maybe some winter crops that are heavy feeders EB. Brocolli, cabbage, cauliflower - have you grown all of those, how did they go?

I love that snow peas go well in AP too. My wife was asking me tonight if I could plant some in the AP (good that she has shown some interest in it).

Yep, the scale doesn't go below 6, and it was as yellow as it could possibly be..

One of the strange things is that I had always been taught and read in many places, that you lime your peas and beans as they don't like it to acid, and the same with brassicas, but my brocolli has done very well, and so have the peas n beans... :?

Yep, will be planting out lots more brassicas in the next week or two VB.. And more snow peas... :)

I wonder if we should look at it the other way EB....

Maybe the brassicas, peas and beans are what's pulling your pH down to where it is.... don't ask me how its staying there though.... would tend to suggest that there's a natural upward buffer in the system somehow that the plants are using.....
