in the free space the netting goes. the airstones lies on the base of the tank... the water enter thru the 1/2" pipe and the water exits via the SLO design. but ppl will say. isn't SLO used to remove solids.? that will be true.. but in the filter the water must force itself thru the net media causing the solids to be suspended in the media before the water exit the bottom of the tank. The air flow upwards in a counter current design to the flow of the water.. hence increasing contact time and DO. that it basically.



So the solids remain suspended...but I would think they would be suspended throughout the water column. So solids would still get sucked up the slo, no?
