Just because they are meek, that doesn't make them weak. There was this rather massive kid on the street I grew up on. He looked like he could crush your skull with his bare hands. He was one of the gentlest people I had ever met, meek would describe his demeanor.

The really big guys don't have to prove anything. Most folks wont even challenge them. Plus, they learn to be careful and controlled to prevent unwanted damage...

Helomech,

I just enjoyed reading this thread from pg 1. It's been educational and I am impressed with your plans and your progress so far. Hope you get the fish kill figured out soon... the suspense is killing me. :dontknow:

It is pleasing to see so many Texans here on the forums and just thought I'd let you know that my wife and I lived in Palistine when we were newly weds (38 years ago) and we loved it down there.

I'll be keeping up with this thread with great interest. Oh, and thank you for your military service.

Mike

One of the sheriffs near here in SC also said he won't support the new rules.
My two cents on gun control:
The laws that are on the books now should prevent every gun crime committed but the laws are not enforced. That's the problem with any new law that will be proposed. Lack of enforcement. Criminals don't obey the laws and when they get caught, they get off.
The mental illness side of these mass shootings is something the NRA has been harping on for years and asking for better reporting so that background checks will be more effective (no, I'm not a member of the NRA).
I don't own any "assault weapons". That doesn't mean I wouldn't like to have a semi-auto rifle again in the future. If you've ever hunted hogs and come across a large pack of them, having lots of rounds in the rifle comes in real handy, especially if they're headed your way. They are non-native and rather destructive, so killing large amounts of them is not unethical in my mind. And, they're tasty.
I support citizens being armed if they choose because the police can't be everywhere, all the time.

I wonder how many of these mass shooter guys are on state sanctioned pharmaceutical so-called anti-depressant drugs that actually cause them to be violent with suicidal tendencies.
Anyone wanna find that out ?

Thanks, had a minor set back with the walls but will get that fixed when it warms up and get building the permanent greenhouse.

Oh I believe my fish dying is because of water temps. I think below about 60 the tilapia eat very little to nothing. I think they have starved to death. I still have about 30 of them that are surviving even though the water temp in their tank has been about 45F for about a month now. If these survive this winter I am going to make sure I breed them.

I am not worried about obama. If he pushes to hard he will end up with a secession or a civil war. The south will not tolerate more gun laws. Texas is also trying to pass a firearm act that would arrest any federal agent trying to enforce any more gun laws. I know for a fact that my local police department, sherriffs office, and state police will not enforce any new crap.

We will fight for the 2nd amendment at any cost and we will not give in to ANY new gun control.

Every shooting that has taken place in the last 10 years or more has been in a gun free zone. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out why. I have never seen or heard of a mass shooting at a gun range. It just don't happen. Texas is also considering arming teachers. Some schools have already done so. The school my aunt teaches at allows concealed carry. What most people don't know is that it is legal to carry on a school ground if the school administrator allows it.

Also obama said that nics background check stopped 1.4 million people from getting guns that should not have them. I would like to know why we did not have 1.4 million felony arrests for lying on a federal form and for attempting to purchase a weapon by a felon?

The 2nd amendment has nothing to do with hunting, sporting, or collecting. It is about have the firepower to fight an oppressive government. It is our right to have the same guns in use by our military.

If the logic is that you have a right ... based on a possible fear... of use against you...

Does that mean you should have a right to nuclear weapons.. and WMD's as well....

And how do you justify the logic... of forbidding, or denying others to arm themselves .. in response to what they may perceive as a threat....

Like say... the Iranians... :D

What part of guns means nuclear weapons. Do you know the definition of arms.

I justify the logic because in order to take my guns you or someone else has to risk your life to take them. There are no rights unless you are willing to take them by force. If someone gives you a right it is not a right it is a privilege. I don't want to forbid or deny anyone the use of arms. When and where did I say the Iranians should be told what to do by any other country. They mess with us I say blow their country off the map. They leave us alone than all would be fine if I had my way.

The point is if obama or the government wants our guns they will have to risk getting killed to take them. There is no other option. They can leave this alone or start a war. I hope they leave it alone, but if not I am willing to fight to the death.

You didn't Helomech... I was just applying the logic to the enth degree... as Devils advocate....

But if you have the right to have the same guns as your military... why not the same RPG's.... cruise missles.....etc...

Short of nukes and WMDs I would agree with that basic principal. Full auto, grenades, RPGs, etc., I have no problem with people having.
People can do a lot more damage with a homemade fertilizer bomb than they can with an RPG.
