Thanks for the advice TC

Hey Ranga... can I 'borrow' some seasoned water from your system?

Did some more work on the system over the weekend and got the start of the frame for the cover done. Also reglued the second tank - leaked on the first test - filled and pumping this morning.

See below for pics...

Also added more humonia yesterday. Test results this morning are:

pH: 6.0
Ammonia: 1.0
Nitrite: 0.25
Nitrate: 0

If your test kit can only read down to 6, it could be possible that the pH is actually lower. If so you definitely want to buffer the pH up a bit so you can read that it has not dropped way low.

So a few things have happened over the last week or so...

12/12 - I added some seedlings... Lettuce, Rocket, Basil, Oregano

13/12 - Proceeded to send the Lettuce in one system to near death... turned off the pump to make some plumbing changes then forgot the turn it back on... lost one lettuce... added shell grit delivery system to the FT... also added a 50% shade cloth cover

20/12 - Added 3 Goldfish (~40mm) to each system... Test results this morning were System 1 - pH: 6 NH3: 0.5 NO2: 0 NO3: 100 System 2 - pH: 6 NH3: 0 NO2: 0 NO3: 40

Here is the log for both systems...
