We expect eventually Disney will run the monorail system over Chris's back yard featuring "high flying ideas like Aquaponics".

Having taken tours of behind the scenes Disney horticulture, I can assure you they have a budget that is as far beyond mine as my tomato production compared to Ryans.lol Seriously, they are some of the best in the world at growing and maintaining a very high level of landscaping. I have sold them trees from my nursery before. They sent over a 45' tractor trailer to pick up 5- 12-14' Loquat trees. The trees could have fit on a small trailer or flatbed truck. They have been known to pay 25K plus for the right specimen palm that they need for a new section. That greenhouse is more then i will EVER spend on my system.lol Never say never...who knows. Just hope I can get my damn toms to grow to a respectable size before they ripen.

Just teasing a bit about the size of what you're doing, I'm trying to imagine how many rafts you will power will all those FTs once you get to a comfortable stocking level.

I envy your experience working with Disney. A good friend of managed a crew for Vally Crest on Epcot property and I used to joke about how he had been outside trimming trees to look like giraffes all day. But he did have a lot of interesting stories like yours about the 25K palm.

I know personally the scale of their landscaping and flower show events. But, I was surprised that it took them until 2013 to open this exhibit considering how hard they strive to show "futuristic" forms of farming at Epcot. And seriously considering their budgets, land, staff of scientist and educators, and the fact they already have everything they need on site... what they built for AP looks small. At least from this video I was seriously disappointed in the effort they put into AP considering the scale of everything else they do there. At the same time I am now motivated to make a visit myself to see this first hand. And I do think AP has some crowd pleasing ability for their motives.

Actually, they had aeroponic and aquaponic displays back in the 80's. Not sure if that was the public display area or the R & D section, but I remember seeing both.
The house is getting close. Hanging lights/fans today and running electric. I need to change a sub panel in Garage to be able to power this puppy up. More $$$$. I haven't totaled receipts in a while...think I'm scared.lol Can't go back now...full steam ahead. lol Will get some pictures once we get lights on. It's pretty dark in there right now. The 2 small windows I had from the 2000 house renovation help a lot, but are still pretty small. When both doors are open, we get some good light.
Painting is done. Soffit/fascia done. All bracing and straps are done. Still need to: foam in the ends of each roof panel. This is going to be a PIA. There are about 100 individual "ridges" and each one will need a squirt of foam to keep critters out. That stuff is nasty to work with. Planning on gloves, and an old, disposable shirt. Using a piece of aluminum as a guard, hopefully I can get it done without dripping that crap down the fascia or building. Will get most of inside wiring done today. Waiting to install all "on floor" outlets until all tanks.filters are installed. They are just stubbed out on walls for now. Money allowing, we'll start getting this thing installed in the ground and piped soon.

Ceremonial last screw on roof, outside East side gable complete, and new lights up.
Panel is installed breakers in, lights are wired and switch for it and ceiling fan installed. Need to install fan, run wire from garage to FH...appx 90' of trench is the hard part.

This is going to make temp controls a lot easier. Thermostat from 70-140F. I have the opposite end gable vented as well as the 2 windows and barn doors. Although being too hot is usually not an issue with tilapia, it's nice to know that if I'm working during the Summer, I can make it bearable. Working on design and hoping to be able to start digging tanks and sump in soon!
