Just chlorine - not chloramine.... I very much doubt it is something in the water , my and gnash's water is ok.

Just done another test of the water. ph is now down to 7.8, so that is dropping. Nitrites are 0, ammonia is back down to around 0.13ish and nitrates still appear to be 0. No idea what caused the spike in ph but at least it is looking better. Will have a good look at the system tomorrow to see if anything got blown into the sump that may have spiked the ph.

These are the first of this harvest of zucchini and cucumbers - harvested about a week and a bit ago. Cucumber was yummy. Have harvested another 4 since. Was just playing with trying to get attachments to work so will now try and post some up to date photos of the system.

:) Thanks Gnash. Once I get them into place and plumbed up I'll be able to go and grab some hydroton from OBO. Then Paige will have her strawberry patch.

Okay, I've not been on the forum for a while and so it is time to update. My front system is booming along finally. Have plenty of celery looking great, some capsicum, eggplants, lettuce and silverbeet. The hot weather has knocked the silverbeet around a bit. I also have another system out the back which is doing well too. Unfortunately, the other day I started having deaths amongst my silver perch so did a water test and discovered the ammonia and nitrite levels way too high so stopped feeding, ran the pump continuously for a day and night and added more water and put the air pump back in the tank. That halved the levels but I lost another two fish. Have only given a little bit of feed since and found another dead one this morning. Another water test shows the water is perfect - no high levels of anything. Have moved some of the fish to my back system as I figure I probably have too many in the front one. Anyone got any advice on what could be the problem. I will take a photo of this morning's dead fish to see if that helps folk with their advice.

Hard to tell from the photo, could just be the photo and rigor...

But it looks like a bit of fin rot on the back fin.... and the white spots trouble me a little... may "ich"....

Definitely indications of water quality problems though..... are the fish "flashing" ????

If it's fin rot, or 'ich' what is the solution? I have also added a bit of salt but wasn't too sure how much to add. I remember OBO saying that helps.
