Hmmm 12.2 volts this morning. I'm not sure why the voltage has been slowly dropping away... perhaps I need a better charger.

Not really, and the system should have loads of headroom if it was.
It's as if either the battery isn't being charged enough, or I'm pulling lots more current than expected. Or the battery is losing condition I guess :-(

Hmmm I wonder if you can get mppt controllers for lithium ion :-)

Dude... dont waste your time with lithium ion!

You want LiFePO4 batteries. Far more stable and can be used as a regular battery replacement.

Gee that's great, I had no idea they existed. Bit expensive though?

How is your solar adventure going?

I have not got a price yet. I found them by having the same idea as you. Lol. Then I thought A123 batteries. Then found those batteries. I'm pretty sure that a 150A/Hr will give a full 150A/Hr before the controller cuts it out.

I'm waiting on parts for mine. Then it will be a goer :)

"LiFePO4 is a natural mineral of the olivine family".

There's an olivine family now? When did that happen?

Researching the prospect of building an electric car convinced me that LiFePo4 are the way to go. Overcharging? They shrug it off, not explode/catch fire like the Boeing planes.

What an interesting thread. Most of the electronics stuff goes straight over my head of course but i would love to go solar with my system one day.

They can still catch fire.

any "high" energy density battery needs a good Battery management system on each of it's cells.
