Chucked a small crappy fish in there from my aquarium (I HAD to put a fish in there) poor thing will probably die from temerature/ph/other water paramters shock but maybe he wont
Also chucked an egg white in (only one for now) and added a really dodgy, makeshift, semi-working fines filter (CD spindle cover with filter fabric) to help clean the water up a little. It overflows so added more fabric around it, couldn't get cheaper if I tried :)

Nice work mate.
Water not looking too cloudy either.
The turbidity of the water will clear pretty quickly.

Congrats.

haha yeah. Let me just get it cycled and planted. And get a few other jobs done around the place before I no longer have a wife and son :laughing3:

Very good, very neat.

Did you drill all those holes in the media gaurd yourself...how long did that take you? :P

Some gravel my dad wants to clear outta his place looks very similar to the stuff you've got there. It's looking more attractive as a grow media by the minute...just worried what the people before he lived there might have put on it. e.g. water with chemicals they cleaned the floor with, annual pest inspection poison etc... who knows?

Yeah I drilled them, didnt take too long, I learnt that you can hold the drill on max speed and ram the drill bit into the pipe as fast as you can :D

yeah never sure about the chemicals... you could always just soak them in water then get a water test done somewhere... you could also put a stack of the gravel into a large container of water, leave it in the sun and see if it goes nice and green. Cant beat a water test though. The gravel I got costs about $100m^3

Just bought about 30-40 gudgeon from the local produce place for $7. Sold as feeder fish. I put the pump in one of those mesh bags you put your bras and things in for the washing machine (don't you hate it when your bras get damaged...don't tell my wife)
so they dont get sucked into the pump.

Question: with CF do you always run the pump 100%? or can you use it on a timer ?
Also is it a bad idea to have just one single water input to the GB ?
