Pandora says the gravel is too lumpy and damp to make a good bed. Silly people! ;)

Well, at least the wasted lettuce isn't going to be a total loss. I know the tilapia will enjoy it!

The tank I was thinking of getting looks like the one you are using for a GB. Only diff is the one I am going to get is a 150 gal, cattle/horse tank, deeper. Yours looks more like the one for sheep/goats.

The fish tank I have is the 150gal one. Go for broke--Rubbermaid makes a 300gal one, too.

The non-Rubbermaid ones are about half the price of the name brand. The 150 I am looking at is $88, and I can get a 6' round for $189, where as the the 300 gal (6' round) Rubbermaid is $325. Enough difference to allow me to buy some fingerlings to stock it.

You getting any hot weather back east? Sunday I was at work and the thermometer at one of the banks said it was around 106F, 40C at 2PM. Probably off a few degrees, but close enough to know it was hot, hot. Been this way now for about a week, the weatherman is predicting it to break the middle/end of the week.

The tanks are on sale at a local farm store (Farm and Home) and a local elevator (MFA). You might look and see if there are any ag suppliers in your area who carry them. (You might get them almost as cheap off of the internet, but shipping will eat up savings on one or two units.) I looked at one site called PolyTank. They had a number of units, but I didn't think I could save enough to have them shipped from Minneasota (?). I also looked at another one that is supposed to have a location about 60 miles away, they didn't quote prices on thier site.

Yeah, depending on where you are in the SW it can be real brutal, temp wise. Fortunately the humidity has dropped down some here, so it doesn't seem as hot this week as it did last week.

Definitely check what your local Ag/Farm Supply store carries. The Rubbermaid is what was available here.

We're getting nice cool weather and low humidity for a change. It certainly doesn't seem like August. It's 84F, and only 25% humidity. A beautiful day!
