i have seen reds smash the surface many many times, i once had a pond full of reds (4x2m with 15 reds) that had a few inderviduals that would eat out of my hand, like take the food from my fingers.

reds can be quite inteligent for a fish in my opinion, i have seen some rather large reds at a place in Pemberton where they would take a worm off a hook time after time and not get hooked and these were over 1kg fish in cristl clear water in a place that gets fished pretty hard, Toms Flats I think the place is called.

i once saw a roughly 2kg red take a sosage from the bottom after it was thrown in the water after a BBQ, now that was an exciting fish to see! i fished that pool for days but never saw that fish again! that was at Dwelingup- bauden powl water spout where the rope swings are!

The SPs like following the bubble stream up in a corner and climbing right out of the water for a second before falling back - weird !

Still trying to get GB number 3 set up, why does she keep finding me jobs when I have important things to do :dontknow:

Posted elsewhere about an unusual plant I grew, Tigger Melons, they are so called because they are the same colour as Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, they taste a lot like Rock Melons with a hint of something else, they grow to the size of a large apple, info on the net is varied, some say they taste like cucumber, I hate cucumber and mine definitely had no traces of cucumber, others suggest they taste like my description and get sweeter the drier the conditions, AP is not that dry really but mine tasted nice and sweet, they are green fruit and turn the colour in the picture when ready to pick

What I find is that you need to pre-book the dates... sort off like an appt penciled into the calendar so she will not try to fill your day with other stuffs... well easter long weekend is coming... if you have got nothing planned, it would be a good few days to pencil the 3rd gb in there...

More seriously though - did you lose anything in the back room due to the flooding ? Gotta be a bit pissed seeing it's the second time in the last few years !

You need to offer me a bed and we build a retining wall in you backyard that sorta directs it sideways to the neighbours

CD didn't loose anything just water damage, a lot of documents in filing cabinets and the white chipboard cupboards are sorta water logged and *frack* ed, it's just the mess that is annoying, sand and gravel backed up from house to back gate and mud and sludge all the way through back half of house , spent a fair bit of last night digging and moving shit, bobcat in as well, happened twice last year CD and the council are blaming many things except themselves and the changes they made further up the valley 2 years ago, I am going them this time but some people far worse off than me so will wait a couple of days, any small rain will now divert from the top of town st8 through my backyard so things have to be fixed in a hurry, when they fixed the lane last year I suggested that pea gravel probably wouldn't work as it is round and will roll with the water, got told to *frack* off basically and told I have NFI what I was talking about as I wasn't an engineer or weather expert for that matter, well weather nerd I am and have produced weather records for the last 10 years I have lived in the house that would indicate that we have similar storms at the almost the same every year, and yet the last 2 years only have been a problem, and no I'm not a *frack* ing engineer, but the pea gravel did exactly what I suggested it would :bootyshake: fortunately I ave saved 2 years of emails to and from the council and in one of the last before the bodge up job they admitted responsibility but quote not liability, but I'm sure I have some Ammo if they want to play games

Yes CD was wondering about the black stripes, (you obviously watch to much morning tv,) but they are close I suppose

Whoops, that's where I got the 2 years from - sorry, memory starting to go on me I think ! Yep, 3 times in less than 2 years, it's time to make them as uncomfortable as you can.

Be interesting to see if you can get in contact with the engineer and see whether he actually approved or signed off on the material used there. Relevent to find out if he's employed by the council or consults/contracts to them. If the latter he's more likely to be honest with you rather than hide behind the council. You'd need to get someone from out of town for a truly independant assessment. I think it was about $4K for the consultant we used to assess our place before the reno started. Lotta money for just you, but dunno if you could get a few others together or not.

You've certainly got the meteorological experience and the paper trail to support a good argument. Good luck and fight the good fight !

Nargh - everyone is still asleep when I leave for work - it'd just wake 'em up and they'd all be pissed at me. I call it a good TV week if I get to catch MASH once, Top Gear, and a cooking show all in the same week.
Mmm, the pattern on the melon is spot on - I was just being a wan%$er !

Thanks tris, all under control

As posted elsewhere my mate the GWH has secured around 3000 Blue Marron and I have decided to try them once more, I haven't had them in this system as yet and think they will go much better, I am going with 20, which against my own advice is about double what would be comfortable in 3000lt, I will remove the yabbies this weekend and put some in the other tank with the fish, also set up GB no 3 during the week as well, will post pics when marron arrive

yabbies are not playing the game, starved them for a few days and now can only get a few in the net, must know they are no longer required :upset: but all will have to be gone Wed night so looks like red meat and string, the reddies are destined for elsewhere as well, they are a pain in the arse, Blue Marron arrive Thursday definitely so wait for pic, GB number 3 in this weekend as well, bought 2 low scaffold frames minus cross braces for $15 from salvage welding in braces and will but railway sleepers on top, blue metal Media and for now a separate pump running on a different cycle to main pump, mainly to keep aeration up for Marron so I don't have to put tubes in tank for them to climb, will run pumps 1/2 hour on an hour off at alternating half hours
