Well....
Yesterday, I was fishing in my backyard and was lucky enough to catch a few trout
I fired up my new smoker and ate hot smoked trout, cold beer and fresh bread for lunch. :D
Tonight - Smoked trout salad with AP coriander, spring onions, parsley, snow peas and mint. Served with rice noodle.
Life's tough

So it wasn't this smoker then... :)

Hi Scott
How big were the trout in the photo, length and weight.
Cheers

Bugger, Bugger, Bugger, Bugger..... Bugger, Bugger, Barra .

Time to report my first catastrophic HSM.
This morning I decided to top up my fish water.
Main AP system has a connection to my rainwater tank which I use for top ups.
I was also a bit naughty and used the garden hose to top up my indoor AP Barra tank.

Guess who left both hoses turned on and went out for three hours

Result
Main AP - Trout and silvers should be OK, just wasted 2000L liters of rain water and precious nutrient rich AP water.

Inside AP - I now have fifteen (250-300mm) dying barramundi to deal with.
I have kept these guys going indoors since last summer with the intention of putting them back outside this summer. Hate to think what they have cost me in heating costs!
The water is now getting back up to temp, but I'm sure the chlorine from the tap water will have crashed all (three) of the biofilters no to mention what it had done to the fish.

I'm thinking that I might just bite the bullet and put them out of their misery.
Guess it's barra on the menu tonight and tomorrow and.....

yep, I was holding a 500 litre tank of silvers selected as the fastest growers at 25 degrees and watching them grow like mad, then did a "top up" of their tank which turned into a 24 hour flush out with 12 degree water. killed the lot, and they weren't far off plate size. not to mention they were going to be replacement broodfish for future years. One lapse of concentration can spoil you and the fishes whole day
