The ol story see more. If we knew what it was gunna cost, we prolly wouldn't have started! I was thinking two and a half grand but got the milkvat, fish were nearly $400 and it just adds up. Still a hella lot cheaper than paying someone to build a new system from scratch.

My babies are on their food a bit better tonight. Water temp of 21C helps. I have noticed that all the tommies i have been brushing with a feather have set fruit, you bewdy. GH temp of 38C today, 6-7C above outside temp. Hope that holds true for winter. Be nice if i could maintain my water temp around 15C during winter, the fish may still eat at that temp.

Nice? Nice doesn't begin to describe what an all year fully functional system would be! Well done btw ;-)
Great catching up with you yesterday, that GH certainly felt more than 5 degrees hotter! I only hope I can have a system that works so well.

Good to catch up KP, hope things went well today.
The babies are still a bit flighty and not hammering the food, so I hope the heat the past couple days, reminds them they are hungry. Those chicken necks u saw yesterday had maggots all over them 2day. Gotta love nature!

Happy New Year everyone.

Hit my first real HSM last night, New Years Eve. Temps hit 43C in Geelong yesterday and there were rolling power blackouts last night. We were offline for 4 hours. All I could do was provide bucket aeration. The power came back on at 11 and i ran the pump for 2 hours straight just to get some air back into the water.
This morning the breeders aren't eating at all. Water temp 24C, perhaps they are thinking about other things. More likely still a bit stressed.
The babies are feeding reasonably well compared to the past week. Still not like they were b4 i put those larger ones in a week ago tho. At least they are eating and there appears to be no dead fish, yet.

The tommies, lettuce and bush pumpkins are flying along. Nearly 30 fruit on the tommies and only 6 weeks in. GH temp got to 47C yesterday and no wilting on the lettuce. Could not believe my eyes. Little bit of new growth on one tommie plant burnt out but otherwise good. Zuchs and pumpkins wilted like they normally do in heat but were bright as buttons at 5pm, when it was still mid 30sC. Gunna pull out the cucumbers today and fill the last couple beds with seedlings, dunno what yet.

I have been thinking about a gliding tank for the breeders. 3m long, one metre deep, one metre wide, rounded ends. I would hate them to deteriorate in the milkvat which is prolly not ideal size wise. Could then use that as a fry tank. Need some more P I think.

Anywho, 2007 was a watershed year for AP and I look fwd to sharing my successes and inevitable failures with you all in 2008.
Cheers, TT.

Yeah mate get a gennie :-) or solar/wind and batteries...
Big tank sounds nice... Where are you going to put it? Under the trampoline? Please say yes, that'd be so cool. but the kids'd hate you for it no doubt.
Maybe in the driveway... What you need is a lap pool :-)
Happy New Year Mate

Our trampoline is an in-ground one, so you can't really do it. Ya kinda can. Dad keeps telling everyone that the tramp is going to be a future fish tank. In his dreams!

Yeah I know, I was over at your place the other day. He mentioned his teasing, but I think he's kinda serious, there's big hole there already. Besides, you could still have the tramp on top, good shading, and you could still jump on it if you liked.
Maybe put fish food in your pocket so each jump you fed them a bit more?
How's that spa of yours going GF? I was hoping to see pics by now...

yes, I was very lucky FF. The sumps were nearly full but not pumping, just at the very end of the drain cycle, so I had no overflow there. Def need backup.
KP, the gliding tank would go opposite the big tank, b/n it and the wall. We have length room but only that one metre width bc of the big tank.
Happy new year to you both, (and especially to you GHF.)

It appears someone forgot to log off.

Is that GHF or TT with an identity crisis?

Trying to relive your youth?

Happy New Year to you all there in the TwinTragics Household.

Did they just? It's not the person who never logs off, and just assumes that they are the logged in member is it? No... It's gotta be the other person :-)
